To ensure a safe and pleasant riding experience, all UTA passengers are expected to follow the rules outlined below. If you have any questions, please contact UTA Customer Service.



  • White Line: Passengers must stay behind the white line located behind the bus driver.
  • Yellow Line: Passengers must remain behind the yellow line on platforms until the train has come to a complete stop. This helps ensure your safety and prevents accidents while boarding or exiting the train.
  • Obeying Requests: Riders must comply with reasonable requests from vehicle operators or UTA representatives, including regulations on carry-on items.
  • Behavior: Inappropriate, obscene, or disorderly conduct is prohibited, including profanity, fighting, threatening behavior, spitting, or lewd actions.
  • Obstacles: Keep aisles, doorways, and areas near doors free from obstacles to ensure safe boarding and exiting.
  • Crossing Tracks: Use designated crossings and stop for flashing lights and gates. Do not go around crossing arms or touch a moving train. Always listen for announcements and look both ways when crossing tracks.
  • Platform Safety: Never run after or next to a moving bus or train. Walk on train platforms (don’t run or ride a bike/scooter/skateboard). Keep off tracks, even if you drop something. Remain behind the yellow line on the platforms.
  • Body Parts and Objects: Riders must keep all body parts inside the vehicle at all times . For safety, objects should never be thrown out of the vehicle windows.



  • Service Animals: Riders may travel with service animals trained to assist with a disability, including guide dogs and signal dogs. The rider is responsible for the animal's control and behavior on board, including ensuring it remains at their feet or on their lap. The animal should be clean, well-groomed, and not aggressive. Riders are responsible for any damage caused by their service animal.
  • Pets: Non-service animals, including pets, emotional support animals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and rodents, may ride only if they are securely contained in a cage, kennel, carrier, or container. UTA personnel are not permitted to carry or assist with these containers.



  • On Board: Bikes, skates, skateboards, scooters, and recreational devices may be carried on board but must be under the control of the rider at all times. Skates may not be worn on UTA vehicles. Bicycles must be secured on a bike rack when available; otherwise, remain with your bike and keep it secure. Bikes are not allowed on the upper floors of FrontRunner trains.
  • On Platforms: Do not ride your bike, scooter, skateboard, or other recreational wheeled vehicle on FrontRunner or TRAX platforms.
  • Skis and Snowboards: Skis and snowboards are allowed on UTA vehicles. You must keep your equipment with you and under your control at all times.



  • Children: Children under the age of 6 can ride UTA trains and buses for free when accompanied by a paying adult. Children between the ages of 6 and 18, qualify for reduced fare on UTA services. To find more information on eligibility and how to apply for the reduced fare, click here.
    • Supervision: Parents or guardians must supervise their children at all times while riding UTA services.
    • Strollers: Strollers must be foldable and fit safely on ramp platforms and vehicle lifts. Strollers may be placed in the securement or priority seating area only if the area is not needed by mobility device users.



  • Clothing: Shirts and shoes are required at all times. For Paratransit riders, feet must be covered.



  • Earphones: Earphones or headphones must be used when listening to audio or video devices.
  • Noise: Loud sounds or disruptions from electronic devices are prohibited.



  • Prohibited: The transport of flammable, explosive, or hazardous materials is prohibited. Battery packs for mobility devices and portable oxygen tanks are allowed.



  • Allowed: Food and beverages in closed containers may be brought on UTA buses, TRAX, S-Line, and FrontRunner.
  • Not Allowed: Eating or drinking is not permitted while on board any UTA vehicle. Water is allowed.



  • Responsibility: Passengers are responsible for keeping control of all personal items during their trip. Be mindful of your belongings, and ensure they stay with you at all times.

  • Permitted: Large items may be brought on board, provided they can be carried by a single person in one trip. On buses, large items should be loaded through the front doors only. Items must not block doors, aisles, or priority seating.
  • Prohibited: Wet, leaking, or hazardous items are not allowed.



  • Noxious Odors: Emitting unpleasant or noxious odors from body, clothing, or possessions that disrupt service is prohibited, unless the odor is related to a rider’s disability or medical condition.



  • Alcohol and Drugs: The use of illegal drugs or alcohol is prohibited on all UTA vehicles and property.
  • Communicable Illnesses: Riders with communicable illnesses or exposed bodily fluids should not board UTA vehicles.



  • Prohibited Areas: Smoking or tobacco use is not allowed on UTA vehicles, at rail stations, bus stops, or any UTA-owned property, including parking lots.



  • Vandalism: Damaging UTA property, such as graffiti, etching, littering, is prohibited.
  • Upholstery: Do not rest your feet on the seats of any UTA vehicle.
