May begins a wonderful time of year along the Wasatch Front — the start of festival season. From our downtown Salt Lake City festivals to Pioneer Day parades, the summer months offer great reasons to get out and take UTA to your favorite events.
Many of these summer events are Ticket As Fare. Event organizers and UTA work together to offer patrons the opportunity to use their event ticket as their UTA fare on the day of the event — making it easier to get around and reducing traffic for everyone.
How Ticket As Fare Works
If your event is Ticket As Fare, your ticket — whether paper or digital — is required as proof of your UTA fare. The promotion is only valid for the day of the event and includes all UTA services except Ski Bus (when in season) and Paratransit. That means you could go to the downtown Salt Lake City Farmers Market in the morning and then use the same ticket as your fare to get to a Twilight concert that night.
Where To Go and How To Get There
Utah Pride Festival is June 1 and 2 and is a beautiful celebration of Utah’s LGBTQIA+ community. All are welcome! In fact, you’ll find us in the parade on Sunday and tabling at the festival — make sure to say hi and get some fun UTA Ride With Pride swag.
To get there — You can take several of the bus routes that serve downtown, or you can park at many of our TRAX park and ride lots and take TRAX Red Line to Library Station (the closest station to the festival at Washington Square Park).
Utah Asian Festival is June 8 at Utah State Fairpark. This event is its 47th year. If you haven’t been before, this event is must-see. It offers food, activities, music, and arts from numerous Asian cultures.
To get there — You can take bus Routes 1 or 205 or the TRAX Green Line to Fairpark Station.
Rice-Eccles Stadium has two big concerts right around the corner. Luke Combs performs June 7 and 8 and George Strait on June 9. Most big events at the stadium and all sporting events on campus are Ticket As Fare.
To get there — The University of Utah campus is one our most transit-dense areas, so it’s a great place to use UTA services. You can take one of several bus routes or TRAX Red Line to Stadium Station.
Ogden Twilight Concert Series at the Ogden Amphitheatre provides a series of outdoor concerts in picturesque downtown Ogden. The series is already in motion and concludes September 13 with Tycho.
To get there — Take FrontRunner to Ogden Central and then hop on OGX to Washington Boulevard Station.
Salt Lake City Twilight Concert Series begins in June and wraps up in August. All the shows take place at Gallivan Plaza in downtown Salt Lake City, except for the Marias, they’ll be at Library Square.
To get there — Numerous bus lines can help you get to Gallivan Plaza, like Routes 1, 2, and 200, and the event entrance is right next to TRAX Gallivan Plaza Station, which is served by the Green and Blue Lines — so easy! Western Stampede & Carnival is July 4 through July 6 and a great way to enjoy the Fourth of July holiday. Enjoy rides, rodeo, and yummy treats at West Jordan Fairgrounds.
To get there — Take the TRAX Red Line to West Jordan City Center Station and head through the UTA park and ride lot to 8020 South. Walk south along 8020 South, cross Redwood Road, pass the police station, and continue until the road ends at the fairgrounds.
